Aigantighe is pronounced
"egg and tie" and in Scottish Gaelic translates
as "at home". Aigantighe Art Gallery and Sculpture
Garden was given to the city of Timaru as an art museum
in 1956, and is now acclaimed as one of the best in
the country, housing New Zealand, Asian, Pacific and
European art works from the 16th Century to present
day. A sculpture garden was put in place after an International
Stone Carving Symposium in 1990. Additional to its own
extensive collection, it also hosts several touring
