The area is home to more golf courses than anywhere else per head of population in New Zealand. In season, rivers and streams abound with rainbow trout, ideal for any angler. Numerous expert hunting and fishing guides are available. For the adrenaline junkies and thrill seekers, white water rafting at Rangatata and the adventure sports of Queenstown are available in this area, ski fields are just an hour's drive away.
